Berat, Albania: A City of a Thousand Windows
More than 2400 years old, the city of Berat is definitely a ‘must-see’. The ‘City of one Thousand Windows’ is most famous for its white-washed houses which with their black windows seem to have been built on top of each other and its ancient castle.

Meeting and greeting with the group at the city center at 07:00 AM and then drive to the ancient town of Berati, known as “the town of a thousand windows
– After a short break at the entrance of city we will start our visit to Art Gallery “Edward Lear”. The gallery is an important institution for the development of local arts.
– After we continue our visit to the old fortress of Berat with all its churches. Visit the museum dedicated to Onufri , one of the great painters of the 16-th century in Albania.
– Going down and walking through the Mangalem district which is a marvel of architecture and engineering—even by today’s standards. Berat is sometimes known as the “City of Windows,” and one can see why when looking at Mangalem, where all windows look down toward the river.
-The visit continue to Ethnographic Museum. This excellent museum, which is housed in a beautiful 18th-century Ottoman house that’s as much of an attraction as the exhibits within.

-Proceed to have a lunch at 13:30 in local restaurant to enjoy the traditional food of this beautiful city.
-Free walking along the Bulevardi Republika down.
A short visit in the in craft center “Margarita Craft Center “ when you will see different handmade souvenirs.
-Our walking continue to see Gorica, that lies at the foot of the mountain and faces Mangalem. You will also see the Gorica Bridge that is originally crafted of wood in 1780, but was later rebuilt of stone.
At 18.30 pm we leave Berati and back to Tirana
